EUCALYPTUS, LAVENDER & ORANGE DIY BATH SOAK

What you need:

2 cups Buhbli Organics Himalayan Bath Salts
1 Tbsp (15ml) Buhbli Organics Jojoba Oil
4 drops Buhbli Organics Eucalyptus Essential Oil
4 drops Buhbli Organics Lavender Essential Oil
2 drops Buhbli Organics Orange Essential Oil

DIRECTIONS

Prepare your bath: Add 2 cups of Himalayan Bath Salts under running bath water, stir if needed to help dissolve completely.

Prepare your essential oil blend: While the bathtub is filling, blend the drops of Eucalyptus, Lavender and Orange essential oil together then add 1Tablespoon (15ml) of Jojoba oil and stir well with a toothpick or spoon.

Get into the bath: First get into the bath THEN add the aromatic, essential oil mixture and swirl into the water around you. Why? Adding essential oils to the bath before getting in increases the chance of irritation to “private” areas where skin is extra sensitive i.e. as you sit down into the bath water, you may be sitting directly onto oils floating on the surface of the water. So get in first, then add the oils. Safety FYI #1: It’s important to mix the essential oils with the Jojoba oil BEFORE adding to the bath water. Why? Essential oils don’t dissolve or disperse easily in water and tend to float on the surface, like all oils do. Direct contact with concentrated, undiluted essential oils increases the chance of skin irritation. Mixing the essential oils with a diluting dispersant first helps reduce direct, undiluted contact with your skin, reducing the chance of irritation. We use jojoba oil in this recipe, but you can also use a Tbsp of other oils such as argan oil or olive oil, a Tbsp of honey or 1 cup of whole fat milk. Safety FYI #2: Most cold pressed citrus essential oils (lemon, grapefruit, bergamot etc.) are known to be photosensitizing if applied to the skin

Safety FYI #2:
Most cold pressed citrus essential oils (lemon, grapefruit, bergamot etc.) are known to be photosensitizing if applied to the skin then exposed to UV light (sunlight or tanning beds). They can also be mildly irritating to sensitive skin.

Sweet Orange essential oil (Citrus sinensis) is considered one of the mildest and safest to use of all the cold pressed citrus oils and is often classified as only mildly or even non-photosensitizing; however, the following basic guidelines should still be followed as a precaution if used on the skin: Make sure citrus oils are well diluted in a carrier oil, use them only occasionally, and wait 8 hours after dermal application before going out into the sun or using a tanning bed.
